Has Pitt football ever won a national championship?
Pittsburgh's football team has never won a national championship. However, they have had numerous successes in college football. In 1976, they won the national championship game against Georgia, becoming the only Big East team to win a national title. The team went on to win the Big East championship in 2004, 2010 and 2018, as well as the Coastal Division in 2018. Additionally, Pitt has made the NCAA tournament four times and the BCS bowl game twice. Despite not having won a national championship, Pitt has still had a successful football program with multiple Big East championships and appearances in the NCAA tournament and BCS bowl game.
