The sports that water helmets are designed for are physically demanding. If a helmet was waterproof it would likely be too hot. Our heads are the best regulators our body has for temperature control and a serious athlete needs something with good ventilation and with water sports, really good drainage.
Helpful waterproof elements would be waterproof EVA foam interior like the Predator Shiznit or ensuring there are a lot of vents for good drainage like the Pro-tec Classic Full Cut. One last important piece is to follow a sizing chart so you’ll be comfortable and safe.
Just because you are in the water doesn’t mean you need waterproof.
